Shipper Checklist

Preparing for a power only move is mostly about readiness: the trailer, the paperwork, and the people at each gate. This checklist helps shippers and yard managers avoid refused hooks, missed appointments, and detention before Logi Transports LLC dispatches a tractor.

Use it alongside how to get a power only quote and the service pages for power only trucking, drop and hook, or empty trailer moves. Check items off in order; skipping trailer condition is the fastest way to lose a driver on site.

Prepare the trailer, paperwork, and contacts before dispatch so the tractor can hook without delay.

Trailers staged in a yard

1. Confirm the Trailer

  • Record the exact trailer number and type (dry van, flatbed, step deck, other).
  • Verify roadworthiness: lights, tires, brakes, landing gear, doors or deck integrity.
  • State loaded or empty; if loaded, note seal numbers, approximate weight, and commodity summary.
  • For flatbeds, confirm securement and tarp status before requesting power—see flatbed power only.
  • Spot the trailer where a highway tractor can access it without reshuffling the entire yard.

2. Lock Down Origin and Destination Details

  • Full addresses or clearly named yards with city and state.
  • Gate hours, check-in process, and a reachable release/receiving contact.
  • Appointment times if the facility requires them; note flexible windows when available.
  • Access constraints: low clearance, soft ground, tight turns, escort needs.
  • For exchanges, list both trailer numbers—outbound and the unit to leave behind—per drop and hook practice.

3. Align Paperwork and References

  • BOL or work order references the driver should carry or reference.
  • PO or shipment IDs your consignee will ask for at the gate.
  • Any special instructions (do not break seal, call before hooking, specific drop spot).
  • Internal contacts who can approve overtime or trailer substitutions if plans change.

4. Brief Both Ends of the Move

Origin must know a power unit is coming and which trailer to release. Destination must know what is arriving and where it should be spotted. Silent receiving docks are a leading cause of on-site delays. Share driver name and ETA from Logi Transports LLC as soon as we provide them, and keep a backup contact if the primary shift ends before arrival.

If the move is part of a larger pool balance, tell destination how many empties or loads to expect that day so parking does not fill unexpectedly—especially relevant for trailer relocation programs.

5. Submit a Complete Quote Request

Include every item above when you request a rate. Incomplete requests create requotes and late dispatches. Submit via the quote form, (864) 791-5644, or quotes@logitransports.com. Equipment-specific tips for vans are on dry van power only; open-deck notes are on flatbed power only.

6. Day-Of Final Check

  • Trailer still in the spotted position and still roadworthy.
  • Seals and paperwork match what was quoted.
  • Contacts are on shift and phones are answered.
  • Notify Logi immediately if the trailer is no longer ready—do not wait for the driver to discover it.

After drop, confirm arrival with our team and note any facility issues for the next booking. Coverage questions: coverage. Company identity: about. More Q&A: FAQ.
